House GOP has deal on bill easing Dodd-Frank

 

The House will take up the limited Crapo Dodd-Frank reform in exchange for a promise of a Senate vote on a broader package bipartisan House passed reforms such as the TRID reform and the Mortgage Choice Act, which passed the House 280 – 131 with 52 Democrat votes. This will give the industry a chance to lobby moderate Democrats to support the broader reform bill in the Senate. In coalition meetings, a number of moderate Democrat Senators expressed support for the Mortgage Choice Act and four were original sponsors of similar legislation in a previous Congress.
